Veterinary products

In Brazil, MAPA - Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply is responsible for the Registration of Veterinary Products. MAPA also regulates establishments that produce, distribute, import, export, among other activities related to this sector.

Veterinary products are any chemical, biological, biotechnological substance or manufactured preparation whose administration is applied individually or collectively, directly or mixed with food, intended for the prevention, diagnosis, cure or treatment of animal diseases, including additives, promoter supplies, animal production improvers, medicines, vaccines, antiseptics, disinfectants for environmental use or equipment, pesticides and all products that, used in animals or in their habitat, protect, restore or modify their organic and physiological functions , as well as products intended for the beautification of animals.

In order to register Veterinary Products in Brazil, it is necessary to license the company on MAPA, as it divides companies into categories such as distributor, importer, producer and storekeeper among others and, after requesting the license, the company is subject to quality system inspection connected to MAPA. This inspection is carried out in accordance with the legislation in force in Brazil.

After the establishment's license is obtained, it is possible to start the process of regularization of veterinary products, which are under the supervision of the Secretariat for Agricultural Defense (SDA) / MAPA, and these products can be registered or registered.

The regularization of Veterinary Products in MAPA is extremely important, as without it, it is forbidden to sell veterinary products and medicines in Brazil.
